WORD: Journey of Great Good. Journey to a Great God.

Steve Houston • Acts 16:1-15

Trust the One who opens frontiers and opens hearts as he urges us to make key decisions in our life’s journey.

  1. Paul’s Journey to the West – thousands of miles (15:36 – 16:10)
    • Personnel with whom Paul Shared the Journey
      • Paul ended ministry partnership with Barnabas and Mark.
      • Paul began ministry partnerships with Silas, Timothy, and Luke.
    • Pathway on which Paul Conducted the Journey
      • The routes southwest and then north were blocked by the Spirit.
      • The voyage home was overruled by a vision to go into Europe.
        • Come and help” (16:9) may be your call to pioneer into new frontiers.
  2. Lydia’s Journey to the Lord – in mere inches (16:11-15)
    • The Preparation of Lydia’s Heart
      • Lydia, like Cornelius, was a God-fearer who prayed with Jews.
      • Lydia had her heart opened by God when Paul spoke with/to her.
    • The Penetration of Lydia’s Mind
      • Lydia paid attention to and accepted what Paul said about Jesus.
      • Lydia, along with her believing household, chose to be baptized.
        • “Come and stay” (16:15) may be your invitation to stop drifting and settle in.
